Calculate Wall Perimeter

Perimeter = 2 × (Room Length + Room Width)

Use this formula when the Whole Room option is selected. The Total Wall Length option uses the perimeter you enter directly.

Calculate Wallpaper Drops

Drops = Ceiling Up (Perimeter ÷ Roll Width)

Every drop needs the full width of the wallpaper strip, so the required number of drops is rounded up to a whole drop.

Calculate Cut Length

Raw Drop = Wall Height + Trim Allowance

The trim allowance provides additional material for cutting and fitting the wallpaper at the top and bottom of the wall.

Adjust for Pattern Repeat

Cut Length = Ceiling Up (Raw Drop ÷ Pattern Repeat) × Pattern Repeat

When a pattern repeat is entered, the cut length is rounded upward to a complete pattern-repeat interval. A pattern repeat of 0 leaves the raw drop length unchanged.

Understand Pattern Repeat

Doors, Windows and Openings

Why Whole Rolls Are Required

Wallpaper rolls are purchased as complete rolls. The calculator therefore rounds the final roll requirement upward rather than returning a fractional quantity such as 8.3 rolls.
